Special Olympics Hold Clinic for Students

UNCW was filled with sounds of bouncing balls and eager athletes Wednesday, as the New Hanover County branch of the Special Olympics hosted a basketball skills clinic at Trask Coliseum.

More than 200 students from New Hanover County schools were in attendance, and more than 60 volunteers also joined in on the fun.

The athletes learned the basics of basketball like dribbling, defending, and shooting baskets.

These clinics are held so that the athletes learn skills they need to possibly go on to compete in the Special Olympics state games.

This is the fifth year the Special Olympics has partnered with UNCW to host Basketball Skills Day.
